Soul Reaver has been discredited by devoted Kain fans as a 'spin-off' but it's our firm belief that it is a sequel. Though the majority of fans were drawn into the series due to Soul Reaver, Blood Omen was still here first, and the original story in the series.

   The basic story sees you controlling Kain's first born vampire commander, Raziel, who has been betrayed by Kain and thrown into the twisiting never of the Lake of the Dead. Arising, a good 1000 years after your execution, without realzing the passed amount of time, Raziel is resurrected by the Elder, who transforms Raziel into the Soul Devouring entity, he humbly calls, a Soul Reaver. Now, he unleashes you upon your former brethren who betrayed you, and to undo the damage Kain has done upon a broken world.

 

   If you've been through the Blood Omen section, you'll appreciate that a good story is the basic link in all Legacy of Kain games, and the idea for Soul Reaver, is a fantastic one.
