Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 Review

So What's The Score?

Well, you've read the review, so here's thre ratings:

Graphics: 8 / 10
The graphics are very good, there are some minor glitches in the loading and movement of the people in some cases. Otherwise, the consistency is impressive.

Sound: 10 / 10
It's good to be bad. People would generally disagree with this one, being a lack of music, but the sound effects of feet hitting the ground, blood spilling, clanging of metal, and the monious 'music' is perfect. Matches the game like a glove.

Control: 9 / 10
Denied a perfect score, there are some slight issues with when accessing your Dark Gifts, it's sometimes hard to aim for the right one you want to choose. And some issues with dodging people, being hard to navigate. Otherwise perfect.

Gameplay: 8 / 10
Good solid gameplay, is denied a 9 and a 10 because of the glitches in frame rate, and the sometimes 'misses' when attacking enemies. As for repeatitive, this reviewer doesn't think so, it is varied enough.

Mechanics: 9 / 10
Some problems with loading, but otherwise the level system is good and complements the themes of the game.

Story: 7 / 10
Not as much of a stunner as Blood Omen or Soul Reaver 1 or 2, but is still good and supports the game. Isn't much on originality for telling the story of Kain, rather what becomes of Kain because Raziel lives.

Impact: 8 / 10
The overall impact of the game is great. It's moody, dark and gothic, and sometimes funny. The game is fun and is good for a challenge. It also has Kain as it's lead, and with the return of Simon Templeman, well, it still carries a wallop.

Replay Value: 7 / 10
Still not as good in this department as the first. It still has plently to see and is still loads of fun to play over and over, seeming how it's challenging and longer as Soul Reaver 2.

Lifespan: 8 / 10
A bit more longer than Soul Reaver 2, taking a good week or two to complete. (And that's without a walkthrough) Even after you've clocked it, it's difficult to rush through it.

Fun: 9 / 10
What can I say? There is fun to be had by all! If your not enjoying yourself, then you can't like the game. This game entertains the darkest of intentions within all of us.

Overall: 83 / 100
Great game, not the best in the series, but still a great adition the Legacy of Kain games. Not for everyone though, it would take some adjusting to by Raziel fans, but for those of you who reckon Kain males the series, then buy this game.
